What to buy with Finger Gutter Splint

How to Splint Finger?

  1. Splint can be widened without heating by gently bending edges outward. If needed, the splint, which is made from 1/16" (1.6mm) Ezeform splinting material, can be spot-heated with a heat gun or in a heated pan of water at a temperature of 150° to 160°F (65°–70°C). Heating the entire splint may cause it to lose its preformed shape.
  2. With a splint on the finger, attach straps, or use tape or a cohesive bandage to hold the splint in place.

How to clean and care for Splint for Broken Finger Tip?

  • The splint will lose its shape in temperatures over 135°F (57°C). It should be kept from heat sources such as ovens, hot water, open flames, and sunny car windows.
  • The splint can be cleaned with soap and lukewarm water. It should be allowed to dry thoroughly before reapplication.

Precautions:

  • This splint is to be fitted initially by a familiar healthcare professional with the purpose for which it is prescribed. The healthcare professional is responsible for providing wearing instructions and precautions to other healthcare practitioners, care providers involved in the patient’s care, and the patient.
  • If unusual swelling, skin discoloration or discomfort occurs, use should be discontinued and a healthcare professional consulted.
  • Be careful that the straps are not so tight that they interfere with circulation.
  • After heating splinting material, always check its temperature before applying it to the patient.
