Vitaflo PKU Cooler20 Phenylalanine-Free Protein Substitute Liquid Medical Food is used in the dietary management of Phenylketonuria in people age three years and older. It contains essential and non-essential amino acids, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals, trace elements and the omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs), Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). It can be used individually or interchanged to meet individual protein requirements.

  • Precautions:
    - Must only be consumed by people with proven Phenylketonuria (PKU)
    - Must only be used under strict medical supervision
    - Diet must be supplemented with natural protein, water and other nutrients in prescribed quantities to supply the phenylalanine, fluid and general nutritional requirements
    - PKU cooler is not recommended for children under 3 years of age
    - Not for use as a sole source of nutrition
    - For enteral use only
  • Dosage and Administration:
    Dosage of PKU cooler is to be determined by the clinician or dietitian, and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the patient
    - The daily protein requirement is given as PKU cooler
    - Additional protein is provided from exchanges of natural protein in prescribed quantities, to provide phenylalanine in controlled amounts which are essential for normal growth and development
    - Foods high in carbohydrates and fat, but low in protein, should be provided to supply the remainder of the energy
  • Guidelines for Preparation and Use:
    - Shake well, open and drink
    - Best served chilled
  • Storage:
    - Store in a cool, dry place and refrigerate before use if desired
    - Once open drink immediately or refrigerate and use within 24 hour
