How to Fit the Orthotic Device?

  1. First, check the shoes into which you will fit the orthotic. Any thick lining or cushion should be removed.
  2. Pick a size of a device that closely fits the contours of the foot.
  3. Ensure the distal edge of the orthotic finishes 5-10 mm behind the bisection of the 1st MPJ.
  4. Fit the device to the extreme back of the shoe and ask the patient to walk around the room.
  5. It may take a few days for the patient's feet to become used to the orthotic.
  6. In case of any discomfort have the patient remove them for one or two hours until they are comfortable again.
  7. If the patient is still suffering from initial symptoms after 3 to 5 days, you may consult a doctor.

How to Heat Mold the Vasyli Orthotic?

  1. After determining the correct density, and size, remove any existing innersoles that may interfere with fitting.
  2. Place the orthotic on a heat-resistant surface. Apply the heat in a waving motion between the 2 Sorbon inserts.
  3. Do not concentrate the heat in one spot as this may damage the product, the molding temperature should be approx. 194F / 90C.
  4. Place the heated orthotic into one shoe. For maximum comfort, ensure the patient is wearing a sock and sitting.
  5. Place the foot into the shoe. Palpate and hold the foot in the neutral position.
  6. Ask the patient to stand with weight evenly distributed on both feet while maintaining a neutral position.
  7. Palpate the shoe, molding it into the arch area and around the heel cup.
  8. Press down on the forefoot to mold the last of the shoe.
  9. Repeat the process for the other foot.
