How to use Vasyli Red High Density Insoles?
Inspect Shoes:
- Make sure the shoes are in good shape.
- Check if the shoes need replacing, especially if the soles are worn out.
- Ensure the shoes are deep enough for the insoles.
- Check if the existing insole can be easily removed.
- Confirm that the heel cup is firm and upright.
- Ensure the shoe has a semi-curved shape.
Match Sizes:
- Look at the shoe size and match it with the foot orthoses box.
- Have the person stand on the insoles and make sure the arch is 5-10mm from the big toe joint.
- Remove the existing insole.
- Insert the insole into the shoe.
- Ensure a snug fit in the heel cup without excessive movement.
- If the front edge is uncomfortable, use the existing insole for extra comfort (with permission).
- Trim the front of the insole to match the 3/4 length orthosis.
- Attach velcro buttons to the bottom of the orthosis and the shoe's heel.
Prepare for Fitting:
- Make sure the person is wearing socks.
- Put the insoles into the shoes.
- Ask the person to put on their shoes.
- Ensure the insoles are pushed back to the heel and fit snugly against the inner side of the shoe.
- Use your thumb to hold the 3/4 length insole in place as the person puts on their shoe.
- Reassess walking or any activities causing discomfort.
How to do Heat Molding?
- Take the orthosis out of one shoe, leaving the other shoe on
- Hold the heat gun 10-15cm away from the orthosis, and heat diagonally across the plantar surface of the orthoses just distal to the heel cup (over the writing, avoid the blue wedges), until the writing starts to disappear
- Put the orthosis back in the shoe and have the participant put the shoe back on (laced up)
- Find the subtalar joint neutral by placing your finger and thumb on either side of the talus and your other hand on the distal tibia
- Guiding from the tibia, have the patient roll back and forth into pronation and supination until you find the point where the talus protrudes evenly on both sides; this is approximately subtalar joint neutral
- Ask the participant to stand with equal weight on both feet, looking straight ahead
- Maintain subtalar joint neutral by keeping your hands in position; hold this for about one minute
- Ask the participant to walk approximately 30 meters (e.g. two lengths of a practice hallway or carpark)
- Leave the Vasyli Orthotics Red in the shoe and repeat the above steps on the opposite side
How do insoles help in Plantar Fasciitis?
- Plantar fasciitis may result from excessive stress and aggravation of the connective tissue that stretches from the heel's bone to the foot's ball.
- Custom-made insoles alleviate the pain and discomfort caused by plantar fasciitis by minimizing the plantar fascia's stress and stretching when you stand or walk.
- The best Plantar Fasciitis insoles provide that extra layer of protection and comfort to your feet.
- The deep, structured heel cup of insoles cradles the soft tissue of your heel to provide an extra layer of protection from the hard surface.
How Long Do They Last?
Vasyli Insoles typically last 12 to 18 months. If required, any reduction in the control due to compression can be restored using the rearfoot medial posting.
Can You Reheat Them?
Yes, you can reheat them, if required. However, you cannot "regenerate" the rearfoot control by heat-molding. VASYLI orthotics will not mold under body heat generated in the footwear.
Do They Have To Be Worn As Pairs?
Yes, the orthotics balance the lower limbs. Always fit a pair, even if pain is felt in only one foot or limb.
What Are The Orthotics Made Of?
VASYLI Medical orthotics are made primarily of ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), amicrocellular foam used extensively in the midsole of most quality sportsfootwear.
Do They Fit On Top Of Existing Insoles?
No, remove all insoles within the footwear being fitted with the orthotics. If the orthotics are fitted on top of existing insoles, it will "de-tune" the prescription’s effectiveness and may contribute to arch intolerance, as will well-worn footwear.
How Are They Cleaned?
VASYLI orthotic can be clean with a damp cloth using a mild soap solution, rinse, towel dry, and air naturally. Do not expose the orthotics to any external heat source. Do not soak or machine wash
