Skil-Care Heel Float is a soft foam heel off loading boot that has added comfort with a shear resistant cozy cloth inner cover and a cooling gel pack. It floats the heel over an air cavity for zero pressure and provides air circulation to aid healing of existing ulcers. The Heel-Float includes water-based gel insert that lowers pressure beneath ankle and anti-foot-drop construction controls dorsal flexion.

  • Application
    Skin-Care Heel-Float features a new adaptable Velcro strap that permits this device to be secured with one strap at the ankle and one at the instep, or with both straps at the ankle. The ankle/instep option should be used if your patient;s foot moves rearward in the Heel-Float or if the foot moves to the left or right inside the device.
    - Ankle/Instep
    1. Place patients foot inside the Heel-Float. Make certain theat the heel is suspended over the air cavity.
    2. Move the Velcro strap attached to the webbing strip toward the toes.
    3. Thread the Velcro strap through the web loop near the toes and secure the closure.
    4. Thread the ankle strap through the web loop near the ankle and secure closure.
    5. Velcro closures should snug but not tight.
    - Ankle Only
    1. Place patients foot inside the Heel-Float. Make certain that the heel is suspended over the air cavity.
    2. Move the Velcro strap attached to the webbing strip toward the ankle.
    3. Thread both Velcro straps through the web loops on the opposite side of the Heel-Float and secure closures.
    4. Velcro closure should be snug but not tight
     
  • Gel-Pack
    The water-based gel pack can be used for hot/cold therapy. For heat therapy, warm the gel in water to the desired temperature. Do not microwave. For cold therapy, cool the gel pack by placing it in a refrigerator. Do not freeze. The gel pack is easily removed by opening the flap at the back of the Heel-Float.
     
  • Important
    Remove the Heel Float every 8 to 12 hours and check patients skin for ischemia or discoloration
     
  • Easy Care
    The Heel Float may be washed and dried at temperatures that do not exceed 180°F(82°C). Do not use chlorine bleach. Remove gel pack before laundering.
