Contraindications:

• Not for severe hypertonicity
• Not for use with severe edema
• Not for people who have an allergic reaction to neoprene or who have a tendency to develop dermatitis
• Not for use over open wounds and infected areas
• May not be for people with circulatory problems
   

Precautions:

• This splint is to be fitted initially by a healthcare professional who is familiar with the purpose for which it is prescribed. The healthcare professional is responsible for providing wearing instructions and precautions to other healthcare practitioners, care providers involved in the patients care, and the patient.
• If unusual swelling, skin discoloration or discomfort occurs, use should be discontinued and a healthcare professional consulted.
• This product contains natural rubber latex, which may cause allergic reactions.
• Be careful that the splint is not so tight that circulation is impaired.
   

Care and Cleaning:

• Wash frequently to remove body oils and other soil.
• Fasten closures. Hand wash fabric in warm water and mild soap.
• Rinse thoroughly.
• Do not wring. Dry at room temperature.
• Be sure the splint is completely dry before reapplying it.
• Do not use ointments or oils under the splint.
• Do not dry clean or expose to heat or sunlight for extended periods of time.
   

Application Instructions:

• Unroll splint and lay it on floor with elastic foot and ankle wraps flat. Orient splint with shorter wrap (foot wrap) distal.
• Place patient foot onto splint, centering metatarsal heads on foot wrap.
• Pull two sides of foot wrap up and fasten hook to loop piece sewn onto foot wrap. On youth sizes, side with loop material is longer than side with hook. If shortening is needed, cut off one of the loop pieces and stitch end of wrap to prevent fraying.
• Pull one end of ankle wrap across top of foot and around back of ankle. Fasten hook piece to a loop piece on ankle wrap. Repeat with other side.
• Starting near foot, wrap long strap across top of foot and front of ankle. Continue wrapping around and up leg, pulling to provide an appropriate amount of stretch. Make final wrap around waist and fasten hook piece to wrap.
• Beginning at foot, adjust amount of pull provided by strap and reposition hook closure at waist.
• If long strap is longer than necessary, cut off hook piece and as much strap as necessary. Either sew hook piece onto new end of strap, or place hook piece over new end and strap at waist.
