• After heating splinting material, always check its temperature before applying it to the patient.
  
  

• The material will lose its shape in temperatures over 135°F (57°C). It should be kept away from sources of heat such as ovens, hot water, open flames, and sunny car windows
• The material can be cleaned with soap and lukewarm water. Allow it to dry thoroughly before reapplication to the patient
  
  

• If splint base is coated to prevent accidental bonding, remove coating by scraping the surface or brushing it with an acetone material
• Soften in a heat pan of water at a temperature over 140°F (60°C)
• Form by hand - With a heat gun, spot heat the tube ends and the splint where they will be bonded until tacky. Make sure all areas to be bonded are hot and dry
• Mount to splint base with firm finger pressure
• Aquatubes can be revised to accommodate patient progress by reheating and remolding them
• To make a hinge, attach the softened Aquatubes to the proximal and distal bases of the splint. While the tube is still soft, pinch with needle-nosed pliers at the desired axis of the hinge. Hold the pliers in place until the material has cooled
