Lifescan OneTouch Verio Test Strips have v-track precision blades to grab the drop of blood easily. It provides in vitro diagnostic for self-testing and to help measure blood sugar. These blood sugar test strips can be used up to 6 months after opening and should be stored in the vial. They must be kept in temperatures between 41 degrees and 86 degrees F.

How do Diabetes Test Strips work?

When a drop of blood is put on the test strip, glucose in the blood reacts with glucose oxidase to produce gluconic acid.
A current is transferred by the meter to the other end of the test strip.
Electric terminals on the glucose monitoring strips allow the meter to calculate the current between the terminals.
Current between the terminals is changed according to the level of gluconic acid produced.
Then, an algorithm is used by the blood glucose meter to calculate the blood glucose level based on the difference in current.

How to use Test Strips for One Touch Verio?

Insert the OneTouch Verio test strip into the test strip port with the gold side of the test strip and the two silver prongs facing towards you
The OneTouch Verio test strips require only 0.4 Micro Litre of blood
Apply your sample to the opening of the channel. Be sure to apply your sample immediately after you get a drop of blood
When it touches your sample, the test strip wicks blood into the channel
The channel should fill completely
The channel turns red, and the meter will count down from 5 to 1

How should Verio Test Strips be stored?

Keep test strips in a cool, dry place between 5°C and 30°C. The meter and test strips should be about the same temperature before you test
Do not test if there is condensation (water build-up) on the meter. Move your meter and test strips to a cool, dry spot and wait for the meter surface to dry before testing. Do not open the test strip vial until you are ready to remove a test strip and perform a test. Use the test strip immediately after removing it from the vial.
Tightly close the cap on the vial immediately after use to avoid contamination and damage.
Store unused test strips only in their original vial.
Do not return the used test strip to the vial after performing a test.
Do not re-use a test strip that has blood, control solution, or any contaminants applied to it. Test strips are for single use only.
With clean, dry hands, you may touch the test strip anywhere on its surface. Do Not bend, cut or modify the test strip in any way.
When you first open a test strip vial, record the label's discard date. Refer to the test strip insert or vial label for instructions on determining the discard date.
