How to Wear AKL-6370 Regular Ankle Brace?


  • Fitting Instructions:
    1. Choose best device for injury
    2. Fit from the heel and raise both sides equally up the outside and inside length of the leg
    3. Best fit is from sitting position with foot flat on the floor
    4. Fill & adjust air bladders for appropriate fit
    5. Adjust air level as needed during fitting
    6. Secure the lower strap closest to the foot/ankle first followed by the second strap at the top end (calf) area second
    7. Run strap around the device and secure the tap to correct tightness
    8. The higher the support length is up to and through the gastroc, the more effective the brace will be
    9. Mark devices Left or Right as they will tend to form to foot they shape
  • Post-Fitting Instructions:
    1. Check fitting sitting down and also while walking
    2. Make sure the brace has been fitted with appropriate strap tightness
    3. Make sure air bladder has been filled to appropriate needs
    4. The brace should not dig into or irritate the Achilles tendon, the bottom of the foot or top of the foot
    5. Air fill should not irritate the side of the ankle
    6. Add compression from straps starting from the bottom of the brace, at toe end, to the top of the brace, calf end or bottom-up, with straps
    7. Decrease compression from the top, calf end, to bottom, toe end.

  • Snug Fit Measurement:
    • Devices are sized at a compressed fit
    • Measuring loose vs. skin tight can result in incorrect measurement

    • Calf Muscle at the thickest area
    • Length from Ankle to Knee
