What to buy with Urinary Leg Bags

How to clean Bard Leg Bags?

  1. Wash your hands completely, With soap and water. Place the leg bag in a comfortable position, with the bag's protective cap facing you and the exit valve away from you. Secure the urinary bag in place with the help of straps. Please do not wrap the straps too tightly as they may cause improper blood circulation.
  2. Take an extension tubing of appropriate length. Please place it in the approximate location where it is linked, with the plastic connection end towards the catheter. Ensure the tube is long enough to eliminate catheter pull but not too long to prevent kinking.
  3. If needed, cut the tube end without a plastic connector with scissors and wash it with isopropyl alcohol.
  4. The bag connector removes the protective cap from the urinary leg bag leg. Make sure that the drainage spout is closed.
  5. Clean the top connector of the leg bag and the cut end of the tubing with an alcohol‐saturated pad. Connect the leg bag connector to the tubing.
  6. Clean the catheter end and the connector end of the tubing with another alcohol‐saturated pad. Connect the tubing connector to the catheter.
  7. Adjust the position of the leg bag and straps as per your needs.
  8. Dispose of alcohol pads, packaging, etc.
  9. Wash your hands with soap and water also to maintain hygienic conditions.
