Tumble Forms

Tumble Forms is a well-established brand of adaptive equipment designed for children and adults with special needs, and has been a key player in this field for over four decades. The brand was founded by Tim Bergeron, an industrial designer from upstate New York, in the mid-1970s, coinciding with the birth of his daughter, Carrie, who was born with Down Syndrome. Carrie's arrival profoundly impacted Tim's vision for his company, transforming it from a business idea into a personal mission as he and his wife experienced firsthand the lack of suitable equipment for their daughter.

Driven by this need, Tim's company, Tumble Forms®, quickly evolved into a reality, expanding its product line to include items like Floor Sitters, Corner Chairs, Bathroom Equipment, Standers, Scooters, and more. These products, known for their innovative design, durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal, incorporated antimicrobial protection to further enhance their quality.

As the company grew, Tim realized that the materials used for the outer shell of the products could be improved. In 1988, he left Tumble Forms to explore alternative materials, leading to the creation of Soft-Touch®, a latex-free, peel and tear-resistant material with built-in antimicrobial protection. This development marked the birth of the Special Tomato brand, which offered greater comfort and durability.

By this time, Tim’s older children had grown and began contributing to the company. His daughter Katie, who had become a pediatric physical therapist, recognized the need for improved seat designs that could offer adjustable postural support to ensure proper alignment and promote the strength and endurance of postural muscles. This insight led to the creation of the Special Tomato Hi-Low Multi-Positioning Seat System.
