Cleaning Instructions:

  • Mattresses Must be cleaned regularly after each patient use. Because of the potential risk of infectious exposure, cleaning with the patient on the bed is not recommended.
  • All equipment should be inspected.
  • Any item that is visibly soiled with the patient;s blood or other body fluids should be properly cleaned or removed.
  • Staff members should treat all soiled bedding as if it were contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms.
  • Staff members should wear appropriate protective clothing when cleaning mattresses.
  • All cleaning solutions must be properly diluted according to the manufacturers; instructions.
  • Follow standard institutional wipe down and infection control procedures.
  • Do not open the zippered mattress top cover during cleaning, infection control procedures or during use.
  • Do not launder or autoclave mattress covers.
  • Wipe down the mattress unit with a damp cloth pre-soaked with warm water containing a mild detergent.
  • Approved intermediate level disinfectants may be used according to the cover material.
  • After cleaning, please avoid dust and proximity to dusty areas.
  • All parts should be air dried thoroughly before use.

Maintenance:


  • Inspection:
    - Internal and external parts of the mattress must be inspected at least every 3 months for damage and wear.
    - Remove the mattress from service and replace all damaged parts.

Caution:


  • After cleaning, dry the mattress without direct exposure to sunlight.
  • Remove the bedding.
  • Clean the top and bottom covers with organic cleaner or soapy water.
  • Use a standard cleaning solution, described above, to clean the top and bottom covers.
