How to care and clean Relief Pak Heating Unit?


  1. Regularly clean and drain the unit (every two weeks). Failure to properly maintain the unit will cause premature wear.
  2. Before cleaning the unit make sure the power is OFF, the unit is unplugged and empty.
  3. Use a soft cloth, sponge or non-abrasive cleaning pad to wipe down the unit and mild soaps and non-abrasive detergents to clean the surfaces.
  4. Use mild soaps and non-abrasive cleaning pad to wipe down the unit. Do not use steel wool as it can cause rusting on the stainless steel surfaces.

  6. Do not use steel wool, bleach or cleaners with high chlorine contents.
  7. Remove all deposits from interior surfaces and parts. The mineral deposits will allow rusting to begin and decrease the efficiency of the heating elements. Exercise care when cleaning the thermostat or heating element. Th components can be easily damaged without proper care. A solution of vinegar and water may be used to dissolve away deposits. Thoroughly rinse the unit after.

Cautions -

  • Use only when water is above the minimum fill level.
  • Reliable grounding only occurs when plug is inserted into "hospital" or "hospital grade" outlet (GFCI receptacle).
  • Do not put your hands in the hot (165 degree F/ 74 degree C) water.
  • Avoid direct contact with the heating element and hot pack rack.

Warnings -

  • Unplug before emptying water from unit.
  • Don't move unit while filled with heated water.
