Precautions Before Use

  1. Make sure the workplace is well-ventilated to avoid overheating.
  2. The necessary tools should in no way put the operator at risk.
  3. Position the patient comfortably and ensure that you have easy access to the involved body part.

How to apply Orfit Eco Black NS?

  1. Activate the Orfit Eco Black NS pattern until it becomes completely mouldable and stretchable. Take it out of the water and let its surface cool and dry on a towel for a few seconds. Make sure that the temperature of the activated material will not burn the patient.
  2. Several application techniques are possible: Use gravity technique to assist in moulding or mould the material circumferentially around the extremity and stick edges together. Utilise the stretch, elastic and self-adhesive properties of Orfit Eco Black NS to facilitate conformability. It is also possible to secure the orthosis in place on the body part by means of a non-adhesive bandage. As with all thermoplastics, take advantage of the stretch and the elasticity of Orfit Eco Black NS while moulding but be aware that it may tear if overstretched.
  3. In case of accidental bonding, let Orfit Eco Black NS harden completely so that parts that are stuck can be separated. Reactivation in hot water is then safe again.
  4. Remove the orthosis from the patient when Orfit Eco Black NS is sufficiently hardened to maintain its shape. Excessive material can be trimmed before complete hardening. To do so, use a suitable pair of bandage scissors. The cooling time can be shortened by means of cold air, a cold bandage or a cold spray.
  5. To attach fastening straps and secure hinges, outriggers or other accessories to the orthosis, the NS film must be removed locally. It can be scratched off with a knife, sandpaper or with a grinding tool. Use dry heat to make the spots sticky and press both sides together firmly to secure the bonding.
