BROM II - Back Range of Motion Instrument

BROM II - Back Range of Motion Instrument

BROM II - Back Range of Motion Instrument accurately measures flexion and extension, rotation, lateral flexion, and pelvic tilt. It combines inclinometers and magnets in an easy-to-use instrument. Eliminates positioning, zeroing, and tracking errors common with standalone inclinometers. Allows rotation movements in upright position. It is the only instrument that can measure lumbar rotation accurately.

More Information

  • How to measure:
    Lumbar Flexion/Extension

    - The BROM II measures the true spine segment flexion between two points
    - Dual inclinometers measure the spine tangent flexion at the upper measuring point
    - The BROM has set the standard for measuring lumbar and thoracic flexion/extension, lateral flexion and rotation range of motion measurements
    - The Flexion/Extension Unit is easily positioned on the sacrum, eliminating errors due to hip movements during measurements
    - The unit is secured to the body by hook and loop straps, freeing an examiner's hand for guiding the patient during measurements
    Lumber Lateral Flexion
    - The BROM uses a magnetic meter for rotation measurements that measures to a reference placed on the sacrum, allowing measurements to be made with the trunk in the preferred vertical position
    - An added advantage of this method is that unwanted hip movement is eliminated
