How do Ascensia Microfill Test Strips work?

Put a drop of blood on the diabetes test strip. In that drop, glucose in your blood reacts with glucose oxidase, creating gluconic acid.
The diabetes meter sends a small electric current through the strip to the other end.
The electric terminals on the strip help the meter measure how much current is passing through.
The amount of gluconic acid affects the current passing through the strip.
The meter uses a special formula to calculate your blood sugar level based on the change in current.
Some strips allow you to add more blood if needed during the test.
Different strips need different amounts of blood, and this can vary between manufacturers.

How to Use Ascensia Microfill Test Strips

Remove the endcap

Remove the endcap from the Ascensia MICROLET Lancing Device.

Rotate

Rotate (do not remove) the protective cap on a lancet ¼ turn.

Insert the lancet

Insert the lancet firmly until it comes to a full stop. This will “re-set” the device. NOTE: You can also pull and release the Re-setting End.

Twist off the lancet cap

Twist off the lancet cap. Be sure to save it for disposing of the used lancet.

Replace the device endcap

Replace the device endcap. Remove a test strip from the bottle. Tightly close the bottle lid immediately after you have removed the test strip. NOTE: Check the expiry and discard dates. Make sure the test strip does not appear torn or damaged.

Insert test strip

Hold the test strip with the grey end facing up. Insert the grey end into the test strip port on the meter. No coding needed!

The meter will turn on. A test strip with a fl ashing blood drop will appear letting you know the meter is ready to test.
